About The Revd Professor Sue Gillingham:

Sue Gillingham D.D. is Emeritus Professor of the Hebrew Bible at the University of Oxford and Emeritus Fellow at Worcester College, Oxford.  She was ordained to the Permanent Deaconate in 2018 and was installed as Canon Theologian in Exeter Cathedral later that year.  She has written many talks and papers both nationally and internationally on the Book of Psalms,  for both the Academy and the Church.  She has recently completed a twenty-five year project called Psalms through the Centuries.  This has been published in three volumes (2008;  2018; 2022) and looks at the afterlife of the psalms, not only through commentaries and devotional works but also through art, music, poetry and political/ ethical discourse, using both Jewish and Christian examples. Recently, two colleagues (Katherine Southwood and Holly Morse)  edited a Festschrift  for her,  entitled Psalms and the Use of the Critical Imagination. Essays in Honour of  Professor Susan Gillingham.
