Summer Concert Series:
Peter King
Thursday 14 August 2025 at 7pm
We are delighted to welcome distinguished concert organist Dr Peter King for a recital as part of our Summer Concert Series.
Organist Emeritus of Bath Abbey and former Director of Music there for 30 years, Dr King is celebrated for his thrilling performances, virtuosic flair, and deeply expressive musicianship. Described by BBC Radio 3 as “a virtuoso of world class,” his critically acclaimed recordings and international concert appearances have established him as one of the UK’s leading organists.
His wide-ranging programme includes his own transcriptions of Liszt’s Ave Maria and Poulenc’s Hommage à Edith Piaf, alongside Reger’s powerful arrangement of Bach’s Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue. Other highlights include Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, Rameau’s Entrée de Polymnie, Mendelssohn’s majestic Sonata in A, and Voices of the World by contemporary composer Iain Farrington.
With performances across major European venues and collaborations with the CBSO and Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, Peter King’s artistry brings both grandeur and nuance to the recital platform.
Join us for an unforgettable evening of music in the glorious setting of Exeter Cathedral.
