Summer Concert Series: Adam Field

Summer Concert Series:
Adam Field

Thursday 28 August 2025 at 7pm

Exeter Cathedral Organ Scholar, Adam Field gives a final performance before taking up new post at Bath Abbey.

Exeter Cathedral’s Summer Concert Series continues with a special performance by Adam Field. This will be Adam’s final recital at Exeter before he takes up the position of Assistant Director of Music at Bath Abbey this autumn.

The programme reflects both Adam’s musical versatility and the breadth of the organ repertoire. At its heart is J.S. Bach’s radiant Sinfonia to Cantata 29, in the virtuosic arrangement by Marcel Dupré — a dazzling celebration of counterpoint and keyboard technique. Also featured are works by Herbert Howells, whose deeply expressive harmonies are a cornerstone of the English organ tradition, and Cecilia McDowall, one of today’s leading British composers, whose music brings fresh colour and clarity to the concert platform.

This performance promises to be a memorable and fitting farewell, marking the end of Adam’s time in Exeter and celebrating the exciting next step in his musical career.

All are warmly invited to come and support Adam and enjoy an evening of outstanding music in the magnificent setting of Exeter Cathedral.
