Library & Archives In Focus: Building the Cathedral

Library & Archives In Focus: Building the Cathedral

Thursday 16 May, drop in between 11am and 1pm

The Cathedral’s fabric account rolls are an unparalleled source of information about the construction and maintenance of a medieval Gothic cathedral. Year by year, from the late 13th to early 16th centuries, these parchment rolls record who was working on the building, where the wood, stone, metals and other materials came from, and how much they cost – even how much was spent on mending buckets and feeding the horses.

Join us to find out more about these incredible documents and what they tell us about how the Cathedral was built.

This event is included in general Cathedral admission.
