Discover a range of family friendly activities at Exeter Cathedral, available this summer holiday between 21 July and 1 September, including:
Explorer Backpacks
Pick up a free explorer backpack to help you on your journey around the Cathedral. Each backpack has a different theme and contains books and activities to enjoy during your visit.
The Cathedral Cat Trail
Follow the Exeter Cathedral Cat’s Trail, looking for the answers to Audrey the Cathedral Cat’s questions! Pick up your free copy from the Welcome Desk.
Brass Rubbing Bags
Use our special brass plaques to have a go at brass rubbing and see what you can create. Brass Rubbing Bags can be collected from the Welcome Desk for £3.
Activities on specific days throughout summer 2025
Orienteering on Cathedral Green
Come along and challenge yourself with map reading, accuracy or speed with this fun outdoors activity for all ages. Each group receives an achievement prize upon completion. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets: £5 per group (maximum five people per group)

LEGO Club
A fantastic opportunity to relax, unwind and get creative through building with LEGO.

Family Tours
A tour specially geared to younger visitors. Our guide will show you the most exciting parts of the Cathedral nave, Gallery and West Front with super stories to grab the imagination. There will be a photo opportunity at the end to dress up as a Bishop or Chorister.

Gargoyles and All Things Scary
We will be taking you around Exeter Cathedral to find gargoyles and grotesques, looking at their crazy function, checking out some amazing monster drawings from one of our great books in the Cathedral Library, and then, using these you will design your own mythical creatures. Attendees will also have the chance to create fun shrinkie plastic keyrings and clay gargoyle pet creations to take home.

Knights: Shields and Swords
We will be looking at the role of the knight, what they wear, and the symbols used to create heritage shields. Attendees will design and make their own shields, swords and coat of arms, ending the session by building castle walls with foam blocks ready for a catapult conflict.
