Candlelight Concert with the Exeter Cathedral Choir

Join Exeter’s renowned Cathedral Choir for an immersive, atmospheric candlelit performance under the awe-inspiring spectacle of Luke Jerram’s Mars: War and Peace. Reflecting on similar themes, this unique concert will include music by Elgar, Stanford and many others.

The audience is invited to bring a cushion or chair along to sit on, and to follow the choir on a musical journey through space and time.

  • Hear the 38 boy and girl choristers and 12 adults of Exeter Cathedral Choir fill the ancient spaces of the cathedral with their glorious sound
  • A programme of music spanning 500 years, designed to take you on a journey through time
  • Includes Allegri’s iconic Miserere, specially written to be sung at this time of year, and John Sheppard’s hauntingly beautiful Libera Nos, Salva Nos, as well as music by Purcell, Stanford, Elgar, Philip Stopford and Roxanna Panufnik
  • Reflective piano music by Ola Gjeilo
  • Directed by Exeter Cathedral’s Director of Music, Timothy Noon
