Giving to Exeter Cathedral

Why Give to Exeter Cathedral?

People value Exeter Cathedral in all sorts of ways: as Devon’s greatest historic building; as the beating heart of Exeter; as a place of worship and world-class music; as a venue for concerts and activities; as an inspirational space to reflect; and as a social hub.

But the coronavirus pandemic means that we have had to close our doors for the first time ever in peace time.

We are working hard to keep in touch in new ways during lockdown, including a varied programme of online worship, prayer, music, and pastoral support. However, we now need your help to keep it going through this tough time, when no one can come in, when our choristers and musicians cannot perform together, and our stalls are empty.

This is a difficult time for everyone. But if you are able to give to Exeter Cathedral today, we’ll be here for you once this is over. We don’t receive regular funding from the government or from the Church of England, so your donation really will make a difference. It will help ensure our long-term financial stability and enable us to emerge ready to serve the people of Devon, as we have done for a thousand years.

Thank you so much for any support you are able to give.

Leave a Gift in Your Will

Many of us are unable to make a substantial donation within our lifetime, despite our wish to do so. However, leaving a gift in your will really does make a difference. It helps to ensure that Exeter Cathedral will still be here for future generations, as it has been for the last thousand years. Other ways to support Exeter Cathedral

Many people choose to support the Cathedral through membership of The Friends of Exeter Cathedral or by volunteering. You may also want to consider supporting the musical life of the Cathedral through the Music Foundation Trust.

Please note that funds raised for Exeter Cathedral will be applied for Dean and Chapter objectives. In the unlikely event that a project or work specified does not proceed, or there is a surplus, the Dean and Chapter will apply the funds to similar work as part of their charitable objectives.
