Canons Theologian Sue Gillingham and Morwenna Ludlow reflect on the prayer which is central to Christian tradition.
So as to be accessible to as many people as possible these talks will be on Zoom and they will also be recorded.
“We are bold to say…”, Morwenna Ludlow.
Thursday 26 March 2026, 7pm on Zoom.
The Lord’s Prayer is introduced in Anglican liturgy with some traditional words “Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us” or “As our Saviour Christ hath commanded and taught us, we are bold to say”. What is meant by this idea of confidence or boldness and where did the phrases come from? Morwenna will turn to early teaching on the Lord’s Prayer to explore these words of introduction and to shed light on the familiar words of the prayer itself.
