Thy Kingdom Come Pentecost Celebration

Sunday 19 May, 6pm–8pm at Exeter Cathedral

For the first time in five years, we are hosting a Thy Kingdom Come celebration service at Exeter Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday!

This is an ecumenical event and we would love as many churches as possible to bring a group for an inspiring evening of prayer and worship led by Bishop Jackie and Bishop James, with music led by Andy Flannagan and a talk from Ruth Valerio.

Event Main Speaker: Ruth Valerio
Ruth is an environmentalist, theologian and social activist. She is Global Advocacy and Influencing Director at Tearfund and also Canon Theologian at Rochester Cathedral. Her home church is part of the 24/7 Prayer Network. She is the author of L is for Lifestyle: Christian Living that doesn’t cost the earth, Just Living: Faith and Community in an age of Consumerism, and the children’s book – Planet Protectors: 52 ways to look after God’s world. She also wrote the Archbishop of Canterbury’s 2020 Lent book, entitled Saying Yes to Life. Ruth is a regular contributor on Radio 4 and the BBC World Service. Se is also the co-founder of the Oikos Network: a global network of peer mentoring groups for Christian environmental leaders from all over the world.

Worship Leader: Andy Flannagan
Andy is the Executive Director for ‘Christians in Politics’ and a gifted singer/songwriter. Andy recently led the worship during our full day of prayer at Exeter Cathedral at the start of Advent 2023 and will now lead us again as we unite as Christians for Thy Kingdom Come.

Churches Together in Devon
We will also be joined for the Pentecost event by Revd Dr Ben Aldous, who is the Principle Officer for Mission and Evangelism for Churches Together in England, as well as representatives from different denominations across Devon.

About Thy Kingdom Come 2024

Thy Kingdom Come is a global wave of prayer which takes places every year between Ascension Day and Pentecost. Christians around the world are encouraged to pray for people they know to come to faith. It is a movement that unites Christians across traditions, denominations and nations. And this year the theme is RENOVATION (to make new again) inspired by Revelation 21:5 and the love and hope we have for our communities, churches, workplaces, households, schools and the land in which we live. Renovation honours the prayer that Jesus himself taught us to say, ‘Thy Kingdom Come, thy will be done…’

All are welcome to attend.
