Guided Tree Walk

Wednesday 22 May, 6pm (Meet outside the Cathedral West Front at 5.50pm)

Join Graham Beck, the Tree Officer for the Saving Devon’s Treescapes Project, on a fascinating tree walk around Exeter Cathedral and the surrounding green areas. Discover interesting facts and information about the trees found around the Cathedral including the different varieties and the crucial role that trees play in preserving habitats for wildlife.

You will also have a great opportunity to learn more about the  Saving Devon’s Treescapes (SDT) project. A project which aims to protect, enhance, restore, and replace Devon’s iconic treescapes. The project is led by the Devon Wildlife Trust on behalf of the Devon Ash Dieback Resilience Forum and is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, One tree Planted, and other funders.

Over the course of the 5 years of the project, SDT will be supporting local communities throughout Devon to plant and nurture over 250,000 trees, including running two tree nurseries, free tree hubs, setting up micro nurseries, advising and signposting landowners, working with schools and community groups, and recording key wildlife species.

Duration: 1 – 1.5 hours
