Treasures Exhibition
Discover rare and ancient artefacts in our Treasures Exhibition – a brand-new exhibition space showcasing over 1,000 years of Cathedral history. Set inside our 19th century Pearson Building just above Exeter Cathedral Shop, you will find fascinating treasures from our collections, many on display for the first time.

Carers: Free when accompanying a paying visitor who is disabled.

Duration: 30 minutes
Accessibility: Lift access available. Whilst the exhibition is on the first floor and can be reached by a 30-step staircase, lift access is also available. To request lift access, please ask your Tour Guide upon arrival.
Roof Tour
This fascinating behind-the-scenes tour takes you into the roof void, high above the Nave, the South Tower, the Lead Room, the Ringing Chamber and then through the spaces in the North Tower. If weather permits we extend the tour out onto the roof of the North Tower to enjoy some of the best views of Exeter (and beyond).

Dress: Flat-soled shoes are essential, no flip flops please.

Accessibility: You must be able to walk unaided. Due to there being over 150 steps, this Tour is unfortunately not accessible to everyone.

Onwards & Upwards Tour
Explore Exeter Cathedral at ground level to discover its finest medieval features before heading upwards into its fascinating roof space. Walk high above the nave, discover the lead room that was once used for smelting and visit the bell-ringing chamber. Step through a Norman window into the flag room to continue to the top of the Cathedral’s Romanesque North Tower (weather permitting) to take in breathtaking views across Exeter and beyond.

Bishop’s Garden & Cathedral Tour
Starting inside Exeter Cathedral, this tour will highlight the parts of the building visible from the Palace Garden. We’ll then walk around the stunning cathedral site to the medieval Palace Gate and enter the garden’s tranquil surroundings. On the tour, you’ll learn about the historic home of Devon’s bishops, who have lived here since the 13th century.

The Icon Tour
For many years, The Very Revd Jonathan Greener, Dean of Exeter, has been collecting iconic images from all over the world. Now, Jonathan is opening his home to host a special tour to share his knowledge of this sacred art form. You will be invited to settle in with a glass of wine and nibbles, as Jonathan talks you through the process of icon making, what the images depict and where his collected pieces have originated.
