New Film Reveals Archaeological Work in Cathedral’s East End

This new short film reveals the archaeological work that has been taking place in the east end of Exeter Cathedral, while the area has been closed to the public.

The findings will be used to inform potential improvements to the Cathedral’s heating, lighting and sound systems, providing a better experience for its visitors.

The Cathedral’s Archaeologist, John Allan, has been working with a highly-skilled team from Exeter-based Oakford Archaeology. Together, they’ve identified areas showing signs of decay and unearthed new information about the fabric of this historically important building.

We’re enormously grateful to the National Heritage Lottery Fund for funding this first stage of our work.
