By Heather Morgan, Chair CCC
Chris will be installed as Dean of Winchester on Sunday 15 March. His last
Sunday here will be Sunday 1 March. On that day Chris will preside at the 10am Choral Eucharist and preach at Choral Evensong at 4pm.
After Evensong there will be a reception with tributes and presentations to Chris. We hope that many members of the Cathedral Community and friends and colleagues from the city and diocese will be present for this special occasion. All regular worshippers at the Cathedral may wish to give priority to attending Evensong on that day so we can give Chris a resounding thank you.
We are sure that many members of the Cathedral Community will wish to take the opportunity of contributing to a leaving gift for Chris, as we thank him for the immense contribution he has made to the life of the Cathedral throughout his rich and varied ministry here.
He was appointed as Canon Chancellor in 2018 when he was responsible for pastoral care, and Christian nurture and education. In 2022, he was installed as Canon Treasurer. In that role he has worked tirelessly on the Development Project and been responsible for the Cathedral buildings. Throughout, we have benefited from Chris’ humour, erudite preaching and his calm and dignified leading of worship. Chris has also represented the Cathedral in a number of ecumenical, interfaith and educational bodies in Exeter and Devon.
Above all, Chris has been a much loved colleague, pastor and friend to many in the Cathedral Community.
