Riddler in Residence: ‘Green Words’ Poetry Evening

Riddler in Residence: ‘Green Words’ Poetry Evening

Wednesday 29 November, 6:30pm-8:30pm at Exeter Cathedral

Join us in the beautiful setting of the Lady Chapel for an evening of live poetry readings inspired by Exeter Cathedral’s green spaces, Old English literary heritage, Gothic carvings of flora and fauna, and collection of historical maps. Our Riddler-in-Residence, Aly Stoneman, will be sharing her own writing developed during her residency, and launching the Exeter Cathedral ‘Green Words’ Poetry Map and Anthology, featuring poems and prints made by people both from the local community and further afield. The anthology includes creative work from sessions with project partner St Petrocks’ service users, Double Elephant members, and Exeter Science Centre as part of their Climate Exhibition, and as well as a series of free public workshops and events in and around the Cathedral, and through an open call for poems responding to the ecological theme.

The ‘Green Words’ poetry project celebrates the natural world in and around Exeter Cathedral, exploring the importance of improving and preserving biodiversity in the centre of the city, highlighting the wildlife that is present in places such as the Bishop’s Garden, and recognising the different ways in which people interact with and enjoy areas such as the Cathedral Green.

Tickets:

Entry by donation, suggested minimum £3.
Proceeds will be shared between St Petrock’s, Exeter’s homelessness charity, and Exeter Cathedral’s 2020s Development Appeal Project.
