and in celebration of the Feast of Edward the Confessor, Founder of Exeter Cathedral.
The Cathedral’s original Foundation Charter is being put on display for one day only on Tuesday, 13th October, the Feast of Edward the Confessor.
Exeter Cathedral was founded in 1050 by King Edward the Confessor. Exeter’s original Foundation Charter is the oldest such document in England. It contains fascinating details about the reasons for creating the Diocese of Exeter, and about King Edward and Queen Edith’s roles in the ceremony to install Leofric as the first Bishop of Exeter.
Admission included with £5 Cathedral entrance fee. No booking required.
