Tour – Commemorating World War One

Monday 5th November 2018 at 11:30

One hundred years ago at the end of the First World War, individuals and communities sought ways of honouring those who had been involved.  This special tour in and around the Cathedral will look at a variety of memorials which were erected here after the First World War.  Some commemorate the dead, others give thanks for the living.

Military historian Jonathan Walker will talk about the fascinating stories and military actions behind the tablets and bronzes as well as the impact of the war on Devon communities. Diane Walker, who has studied the memorials of Exeter Cathedral, will explore the origins of these monuments and share with you some intriguing family connections with the Cathedral.

The tour will start at 11:30 and finish around 12:45.

This tour is also taking place on 2nd November 2018.
