Is Religion Compatible with Social Progress?
with Professor Grace Davie
on Zoom

What do we assume about the future of religion?  And do our assumptions depend on which part of the world we live in?  This talk draws on a recent research project to examine not only the continuing significance of religion in the 21st century but its many and varied contributions to social progress.  A preview can be found here: https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/religionglobalsociety/2019/01/a-lived-situated-and-constantly-changing-reality-why-religion-is-relevant-to-the-pursuit-of-social-progress/

Grace Davie is Emeritus Professor of Sociology in Exeter and the author of Religion in Britain: A Persistent Paradox (2015).  She is a Lay Canon of the Diocese of Europe and part of the congregation of St James’ in Exeter.

Grace’s talk will be available in advance on YouTube and Facebook
