For over 85 years The Company of Tapisers has worked behind the scenes to create vestments, stitched altar linen and canvas work for the Cathedral, to complement worship and beautify the building.
This new exhibition is a unique opportunity to see at close quarters the exquisite handiwork of this talented group of volunteers.
Much of the textile work to be exhibited was designed by Mary Carr who for 24 years headed the textile group and sadly died in 2017.
Canon Ian Morter will give a short talk daily at 2pm during the exhibition to explain the meaning of the vestments, when they are used and the symbols embroidered on them.
Admission included with £5 Cathedral entrance.
