About This Web Site

This web site is published by the Dean and Chapter of Exeter Cathedral.

The initial work of creating this web site was originally carried out in 1996/7 by three undergraduates at the University of Exeter under the guidance of Dr Mike Dobson, a Lay Vicar in the Cathedral Choir.

These were:

In the same way that the Cathedral welcomes all its visitors, the web site is designed to do the same. It should work with all browsers as it has no frames and only uses tables if absolutely necessary. It is completely free from all Java, Javascript and other complicated stuff. This leads to a relatively unexciting layout but should be very easy to navigate and use.

Much of the helpful textual material used in these web pages has been taken from the 'Exeter Cathedral Directory 1992', compiled by Heather Morgan and edited by Heather Morgan and David Row. (The information given here is kept up to date.)

The work of the above was collated and added to by David Snell, who is a Cathedral Guide, member of the congregation and "Life Friend".

The work was edited by Colonel Michael Woodcock (the former Chapter Clerk) and others.

We gratefully acknowledge the part played by all those people who have helped to bring the Exeter Cathedral web-site "on-line".

Some of the pictures used in this site have been drawn from the previous Pitkin Guide for Exeter Cathedral. The new Guide may be puchased from the Cathedral shop or the information desk.
