Summer Term 2013 Programme

The following are the themed weeks we will be holding during the Spring Term. We can take one school on each available day. The optimum number for the best possible experience is up to 30 pupils but we can arrange to accommodate more. The cost per pupil is £3 with all accompanying adults free of charge. The Big Questions   16, 17, 19 April
KS3, 4, 5

This is an opportunity to explore the Cathedral and also have the chance to question a member of clergy on their views.

Saints   22, 23, 25, 26 April
KS 2

Explore the representations of saints throughout the Cathedral as we celebrate St George's Day. From the West Front to the Nave pulpit there are images of saints everywhere. Listen to some of their stories and then take part in a related workshop.

Signs and Symbols   13, 15, 16, 17 May
KS 2

Exeter Cathedral is first and foremost a place of worship rich in Christian symbolism. Pupils will explore the building considering symbolic objects, words and images and take part in a handling session and clay tile workshop.

Pilgrimage   20, 24 May

Famous Faces   4, 5, 6, 7 June
KS 2

Investigate the role the Cathedral has played in the lives of significant men and women in history. Listen to the story of Catherine of Aragon's stay in the Close, some gruesome tales and some exciting accounts of Cathedral life from our Library and Archive.

The Beauty of Maps   10, 11, 13, 14 June
KS 1, 2

An opportunity for primary school children to explore the Cathedral using the beautiful Hooker map of the Green. Explorer backpacks will be provided with compasses, magnifying glasses and binoculars. There will then be a related workshop for pupils to create their own map which is practical but is also a work of art.
