Our History

Themed Guided Tours

‘Lisa and Kate (along with the rest of the volunteers) provided a wonderful learning experience for our children. We would certainly book again.’  - Matt Brown, Whimple Primary School

Having received support from the Heritage Lottery Fund we have developed a new programme of special themed tours. Our trained volunteers guides will tell you about the life, history and community of the Cathedral, focusing on your chosen topic area which might include signs and symbols, faith in art, medieval history and architecture. They are the ideal way to make the most of your visit and they are devised to complement the curriculum. A themed tour lasts between 45 mins to 1 hour with the option to include a complementary workshop — we can also provide a lunchroom (at no extra cost). More information is available by clicking the link below.

Sixth Form Debate

Our Sixth form debate follows a ’Question Time’ forum. It takes place in the nave of the Cathedral in front of a panel of six high profile figures who will answer the questions submitted by the attending students.

This is an exciting opportunity for students to engage with members of their local community, sharing their own thoughts and questioning those of others. The event will be open to all local schools but booking is essential.

The next debate will be held on November 25th 2015. We have an interesting and varied panel lined up, headed by Samira Ahmed will be chairing this year’s event.

School groups will need to pre-book places, The cost will be £3 each which will include refreshments and a snack. Accompanying adults free.
