Planning your visit
Themed Guided Tours
Having received support from the Heritage Lottery Fund we have developed a new programme of special themed tours. Our trained volunteers guides will tell you about the life, history and community of the Cathedral, focusing on your chosen topic area which might include signs and symbols, faith in art, medieval history and architecture. They are the ideal way to make the most of your visit and they are devised to complement the curriculum. A themed tour lasts between 45 mins to 1 hour with the option to include a complementary workshop — we can also provide a lunchroom (at no extra cost). More information is available by clicking the link below.
A self-guided visit allows you to visit the Cathedral and carry out your own prepared work for your group. Have a look at our downloadable information to help plan your visit.
Activity Booklets and Quiz Trails
Activity booklets which enable children to explore the building in groups or individually are available for different key stages. They cost 10p each to cover cost of printing. Please phone to reserve you these for your group, so that we have the relevant booklets available.
Tower and Roof Tours
We offer Tower and Roof Tours for those over 8 years of age. Booking is essential. Roof tour is £5 per child and tower tour is £2 per child. General group size is 12.
Sixth Form Debate
Exeter Cathedral has been successfully running a Sixth Form Debate forum for the last 2 years. Unfortunately, with the renovation of the Cathedral organ this year, we will not be holding the debate in 2014. We will, however, be concentrating on securing a great panel and choosing interesting and relevant topics for discussion for the next debate, in 2015. Look out for future update or call if you would like extra information.
