Our History

Themed Guided Tours

All of the children loved the activities that allowed them to explore the cathedral at the same time. We all had a fantastic day and would consider this venue with other year groups.” Forches Cross Primary

Having received support from the Heritage Lottery Fund we have developed a new programme of special themed tours. Our trained volunteers guides will tell you about the life, history and community of the Cathedral, focusing on your chosen topic area which might include signs and symbols, faith in art, medieval history and architecture. They are the ideal way to make the most of your visit and they are devised to complement the curriculum. A themed tour lasts between 45 mins to 1 hour with the option to include a complementary workshop — we can also provide a lunchroom (at no extra cost). More information is available by clicking the link below.

We had a lovely morning in which the children enjoyed, learnt and appreciated the Cathedral. Well organized and resourced activity too. The children were really thrilled with their cathedral experience! Thank you” Bow Hill Primary School

Trails cost 20p and booklets 50 each to cover the cost of printing. Please phone to reserve you these for your group, so that we have the relevant booklets available.

Tower and Roof Tours

We offer Tower and Roof Tours for those over 8 years of age. Booking is essential. Roof tour is £5 per child and tower tour is £2 per child. General group size is 12.

Sixth Form Debate

Our Sixth form debate follows a ’Question Time’ forum. It takes place in the nave of the Cathedral in front of a panel of six high profile figures who will answer the questions submitted by the attending students.

This is an exciting opportunity for students to engage with members of their local community, sharing their own thoughts and questioning those of others. The event will be open to all local schools but booking is essential.

Our last debate was held on November 25th 2015. Samira Ahmed chaired an interesting and diverse panel.
