The 1665 John Loosemore Organ Case
Music Appeal
Music lies at the heart of the Cathedral's role as a place of worship and culture, transforming the building and the experiences of worshippers and visitors every day. The Cathedral choir sings over 300 services a year and its high musical standards have led to an internationally renowned reputation.
Just as the Cathedral itself is looked after and held in trust for future generations, so too is its musical life. If nurtured now it will not only survive but grow into a truly outstanding legacy for years to come. It costs £700 each day just to cover the costs of the Cathedral's musical life. Raising £3 million will ensure the Cathedral music maintains its consistently high standard, as well as creating the means by which choir members can undertake outreach and musical development in schools throughout Devon. The fund will also enable the provision of bursaries and financial support for talented children who would otherwise be unable to receive the education and support they need.
