Properties in the Cathedral Close
Fabric Appeal
As part of the Development appeal, funds are urgently needed for a number of restoration and conservation projects both within the Cathedral itself, and on the other historic buildings of the Cloisters and the Cathedral Close.
The imposing sight of the West Front is most people's first view of the Cathedral. Work is continuing on a major programme of conservation work to the upper levels including the great West window. Our stonemasons work tirelessly every day to maintain the fabric of the building through the repair and replacement of the stonework.
The recent architect’s inspection has identified that the North side of the Cathedral will be the next area in need of our attention, particularly over St. Edmunds chapel where the roof has begun to leak.
The Cathedral and the Close properties require conservation while in our care so we can hand them down intact for future generations. If you feel able to help please make a donation, no matter what size your gift, it will make a lasting difference. Thank you.
