The Cathedral supports a wide range of charitable organisations in a variety of ways but in particular, through its own Cathedral Community, it runs two weekly projects reaching out to the homeless and vulnerably housed of the city:
S.O.A.R (Soup On A Run)
Every Wednesday a small team of volunteers from the Cathedral Community provide a simple meal for the disadvantaged of the city.
Gathering at the top of South Street, on the site of the Farmers Market, Jacket potatoes with fillings and hot drinks are served between 6pm & 6.45pm.
S.O.A.R is funded entirely by donations from our supporters and if you are interested in making a donation please contact our Canon Missioner on:
The Friday Night Café.
Every Friday evening (8pm – 10pm) volunteers from the Cathedral Community (in particular the Holy Ground Congregation) serve the homeless and vulnerably housed people of Exeter by offering a soup supper, with hot drinks and snacks in St Petrock’s Church (on the High Street). The café offers a valuable opportunity to build up relationships and enjoy a time of socialising for both volunteers and guests alike. The Cathedral values their excellent relationship with the St Petrock’s Centre which provides valuable on-going support for the homeless of Exeter www.stpetrocks.org.uk
The Café is funded by donations and gifts of money and sleeping bags are always appreciated.
