The Third Millennium Campaign
Exeter Cathedral is one of the oldest and most beautiful cathedrals in England. It has stood on this site, in one form or another, for almost 1,000 years and is a testament to those who have worked and worshipped within the Cathedral throughout the centuries.
Whether looking at the craftsmanship of the building, listening to the choir, or sitting in restful calm within one of the chapels it is impossible not to be filled with a sense of awe for the Cathedral and a respect for all those people in times past who worked so hard to create and maintain it.
The Cathedral is a living and working community as much today as it ever was, set as it is within the heart of Exeter and the county of Devon. People come to the Cathedral for many reasons. For some it is a place to encounter God: for others it is a place of inspirational art, architecture and heritage: for many it is the site of internationally renowned music, in many different forms.
The aim of the Third Millennium Campaign is to ensure that the Cathedral and its mission are sustained for the future. By preserving and conserving its past, as well as seeking new ways to enrich the experiences of all who visit the Cathedral, we hope our descendents will get as much pleasure and spiritual comfort from it in years to come as we do today. The Third Millennium Campaign's aim is to make this possible by raising £8 million to support three appeals: music, fabric, and the library and archives.
