The Administrator is the Cathedral's Chief Executive and combines the statutory tasks of clerk to the Chapter and Receiver. He is responsible to the Chapter for administration and the implementation Of Chapter decisions. He attends and keeps minutes of Chapter Meetings and meetings of the Greater Chapter and other bodies. His duties include management of the Cathedral Office, the co-ordination and supervision of lay staff including (in conjunction with the Surveyor of Works), the Cathedral Works Staff.

He maintains the Cathedral diary and Projects lists. He attends meetings of the Council of the Friends of Exeter Cathedral and is Secretary of the Preservation Trust. He is Company Secretary of Exeter Cathedral Enterprises Ltd.

The finance officer maintains the accounts of the Dean and Chapter, Exeter Cathedral Enterprises Ltd and the Trusts administered by the Dean and Chapter. The finance officer maintains the staff pay roll and pays bills. The finance officer prepares annual budgets and monthly statements of expenditure to permit accurate monitoring.
